The six feet six inch Northumberland-born defender has passed a medical at the DW Stadium and put pen to paper on a deal at the DW Stadium until the summer of 2019.
Manager Gary Caldwell has welcomed Burn’s arrival, saying he is a player the club have been keeping tabs on for some time: “He fits our profile exactly, young, hungry and with experience at this level and the desire to progress with us.
“He is a powerful defender, but he likes to play as well and adds tremendous competition to the squad.”
The 24-year-old becomes the third signing of the summer following Stephen Warnock and Alex Gilbey as the Latics squad starts to take shape in time for the big kick off on 6 August.
Burn played the majority of games for Fulham last season, having initially broken into the Cottagers’ side in the Premier League. He has also played on loan at Birmingham City and Yeovil Town after initially coming through the ranks at Darlington and signing for Fulham at the age of 19.
