Premier League 4 Sport basketball players win competition in Sheffield.

Basketball players representing Wigan Athletic were crowned as champions at England Basketball’s 3v3 competition in Sheffield last Saturday.

Not only did the team – made up of players from Wigan Athletic Community Trust’s Premier League 4 Sport programme – win the competition, but one of the players, Ryan Gordon, was also named as Player of the Tournament.

The players took on teams from a number of other football clubs, including Stoke City, West Brom and Wolves, on their way to winning the competition. 

Wigan Athletic Community Trust run the Premier League 4 Sport programme in and around Wigan, providing young people with the chance to play a variety of sports, including athletics, badminton, basketball, hockey, netball, table tennis, tennis and volleyball.

This summer Premier League 4 Sport basketball sessions will continue at Wigan Youth Zone on Mondays 7.00 – 8.00pm and Thursdays 7.00 – 8.00pm.
