Wigan Athletic team win silver at Premier League 4 Sport national hockey competition.

A team of hockey players won silver as they represented Wigan Athletic at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park yesterday in a national Premier League 4 Sport hockey competition.

After taking on teams from Bolton Wanderers, Notts County, Stoke City and Swansea City in the group stages of the competition, the team met Bolton once again in the final, where a close match finished 4-2 to the Trotters' side.

The competition was organised by England Hockey and the Premier League for football clubs that run hockey sessions as part of the Premier League 4 Sport programme.

Wigan Athletic Community Trust run the Premier League 4 Sport programme in and around Wigan, providing young people with the chance to play a variety of sports including athletics, badminton, basketball, netball, table tennis, tennis and volleyball as well as hockey.

This summer Premier League 4 Sport hockey sessions will take place at Wigan Youth Zone every Friday from 5.00 – 6.00pm.
