Wigan Athletic midfielder David Perkins has been voted as the Wigan Athletic Supporters Club 2015-16 Away Player of the Season, being presented with the award at the annual Player of the Year Dinner at the DW Stadium.

Supporters travelling with the official Supporters Club voted for their Man of the Match after each away fixture this season, with Perkins collected the most individual Man of the Match awards from the 23 away league games during the campaign.

The 33-year-old midfielder was presented with the award by Supporters Club member Deborah Chapman, along with her 11-year-old daughter Lauren.

On receiving the award, Perkins said:

“We’ve had an amazing number of supporters follow us to our away matches this season and our appreciation for what they’ve done for us is something we really do recognise.

“It’s great for us as players to look up and see the packed away sections because it gives us that extra boost and makes us even more determined to get results.

“That was evident on Saturday and has been all season, so to receive an award from those supporters who travel around the country really means a lot to me.”
