  • Perkins scoops up third award of the evening.
Wigan Athletic midfielder David Perkins has been voted as the club’s 2015-16 Player of the Season by supporters, being presented with the award at the annual Player of the Year Dinner at the DW Stadium.

The award, sponsored by Molson Coors and Singha Beer, saw Perkins receive over 30% of the votes ahead of runner-up Max Power and third place Will Grigg.

The 33-year-old has featured in 47 of the club’s 50 matches so far this season, missing just one league match due to suspension and proving to be an integral part of Latics’ midfield in this promotion winning campaign.

On a night which saw him receive a hat-trick of awards, including Away Player of the Season and Players' Player of the Season, Perkins said:

“It’s an honour to be recognised by the supporters, especially in my first season at the club, and to win three awards in one night really is a big surprise.

“This season has been really enjoyable for everyone, and the important thing is that we have achieved our aims as a team and as a club and can look forward to next season in the Championship.”
