Latics to host Liverpool FC in pre-season friendly with away games confirmed against Chester FC, Macclesfield Town and Rochdale AFC.

  • Liverpool FC will visit the DW Stadium on Sunday 17th July 2016.
  • Warm-weather training camp in Portugal precedes fixtures.
  • Latics will travel to Chester FC, Macclesfield Town and Rochdale AFC.
Wigan Athletic have announced their initial pre-season schedule for the 2016-17 season with the visit of Liverpool FC to the DW Stadium the highlight from the four matches announced.

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp will bring his side to the DW on Sunday 17 July, with the game kicking off at 4pm.
Tickets will be priced at £10, with concession prices of £5 for Under 11s and no admission fee for Under 5s. On sale details will be announced as soon as they are confirmed.

Latics’ players are due to return to training on June 23, which will for the first time take place at the new training facility in Euxton. Gary Caldwell’s side will then spend a week at their new training ground before flying to Portugal for a warm weather training camp in early July.

The first match back in the UK will take place at the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium, the home of National League side Chester FC, on Wednesday 13 July before the visit of Liverpool FC on the 17th. 

Latics will then play Macclesfield Town, also of the National League, at Moss Rose on Wednesday 20 July and will then visit Spotland to take on Rochdale on Saturday 23 July, with 7.00pm and 3.00pm kick-offs respectively.

If any further matches are added to the schedule, they will be announced as soon as they are confirmed.

Wednesday 13th July - Chester FC (A) Kick-off 7:30pm
Sunday 17th July - Liverpool FC (H) Kick-off 4.00pm
Wednesday 20th July - Macclesfield Town (A) Kick-off 7.00pm
Saturday 23rd July - Rochdale AFC (A) Kick-off 3.00pm
