Latics remember this weekend.Prior to tomorrow's game with Reading at the DW Stadium, supporters will be asked to hold a minute's silence ahead of Remembrance weekend.
With no club fixtures in the Premier League or Sky Bet Championship next weekend, when traditionally respects would be paid, the decision has been made to remember those who lost their lives serving their country ahead of tomorrow's match (Saturday 5 November).
Wigan Athletic Football Club remains a strong supporter of the armed forces community living in and around Wigan.
For many years the Club has backed the Tickets for Troops initiative which provides match tickets to men and women who are currently serving in the armed forces and in July 2015 the Club signed up to the Ministry of Defence's Armed Forces Covenent in partnership with Wigan Council.
As part of the Covenent, the Club agreed to continue to back the Ticket for Troops initiative, support armed forces based charities through match day collections and support employees who have spouses and partners in the armed forces.
Through the work of the Community Trust it also established the Football 4 Forces programme which provides free weekly football and sport activities for ex-service men and women who live in Wigan.
For more information about the Club's work with the armed forces community please contact Head of Community Tom Flower at firstname.lastname@example.org
There will also be collections around the DW Stadium by the Poppy Appeal, so please give generously.
