Three goals inside the first 16 minutes secured Nick Chadwick's under-18 side a place in the EFL Youth Alliance Cup semi-finals as they defeated Burton Albion 3-1 at Christopher Park on Saturday.
Tom Powell struck twice after Nathan Randell had opened the scoring with Joseph Hunt scoring a late consolation for the Brewers.
A blistering start from Chadwick's boys saw Randell give his side a fifth minute lead as Jack White crossed from the left for Randell to head home once Burton's keeper had parried the ball towards him at the far post.
Four minutes later it was 2-0 as Shane Donaghey played a nice ball over the top for Powell to get in behind and finish before he doubled his tally seven minutes later when Matty Taylor found White again on the left to gain another assist by crossing for Powell to tap in from ten yards.
A late goal against proved disappointing as Latics looked for a third clean sheet of the season, though a fifth win in six games was a sure sign Chadwick's side are continuing their good progress.
