LOAN REPORT: MORSY AND TAYLOR ON WINNING SIDES

25 October 2016

Five feature in weekend and Monday action.

  • Sam Morsy and Andrew Taylor help towards victories for Barnsley and Bolton Wanderers.
  • Five involved in action, including Ryan Colclough, Jack Hendry and Owen Evans.
  • Sanmi Odelusi, Billy Mckay and Danny Whitehead unused substitutes.

SAM MORSY - BARNSLEY

Barnsley ended a run of three straight defeats on Saturday with an impressive 2-0 victory over Brentford at Griffin Park, thanks to goals from Adam Armstrong and Sam Winnall.

Latics' midfielder Sam Morsy featured for the full 90 minutes as the Tykes strengthened their position in the Sky Bet Championship table, moving up to 19 points in 12th place, just four points from a play off place.

ANDREW TAYLOR - BOLTON WANDERERS

Bolton Wanderers' dip in form seems to be well and truly behind them now, after Monday night's 2-0 victory at local rivals Bury sent them to within three points of Sky Bet League One leaders Scunthorpe United, thanks to two Zach Clough penalties.

Andrew Taylor featured for the full 90 minutes in the victory at Gigg Lane, as Bolton made it up to 28 points in second place.

RYAN COLCLOUGH & JACK HENDRY - MK DONS

It was a weekend to forget for MK Dons as they fell to a 3-0 home defeat against Southend United, sparking manager Karl Robinson's departure by mutual consent after six years with the Dons.

Ryan Colclough played the full 90 minutes at Stadium MK, with Jack Hendry replaced after 68 minutes as goals from Simon Cox and an Anthony Wordsworth double saw the hosts drop to 19th place on 16 points, just one above the relegation zone.

BILLY MCKAY - OLDHAM ATHLETIC

Oldham Athletic's battle at the foot of League One took a hit on Saturday as they fell to a 2-0 home defeat against Bristol Rovers, with goals from Charlie Colkett and Jake Clarke-Salter providing the victory for the visitors.

Billy Mckay was an unused substitute, with Oldham now 22nd in the table on just 15 points.

SANMI ODELUSI - ROCHDALE

Rochdale's recent good form took another bump on Saturday with a 2-0 defeat at Coventry City, as goals from Daniel Agyei and Andre Wright gave the Sky Blues a home win.

Sanmi Odelusi was an unused substitute for Dale, with Keith Hill's side now ninth in League One, just two points from the play offs.

DANNY WHITEHEAD - CHELTENHAM TOWN

Danny Whithead was an unused substitute for Cheltenham Town on Saturday, but the Robins continued to make good progress in League Two, with Billy Waters' goal providing a 1-0 victory away at Grimsby Town.

The victory sees Cheltenham up to 16th in the table, three clear of the relegation zone.

OWEN EVANS - RHYL FC

Rhyl FC suffered their second straight defeat on Saturday as their 10 men fell to a 3-2 away loss at Bangor City.

Owen Evans featured for the full 90 minutes against the Lilywhites as they dropped to sixth place in the Welsh Premier League.
