LOAN REPORT: ODELUSI AND ROCHDALE ON TOP IN LOCAL DERBY

Seven feature in weekend action.

  • Sanmi Odelusi and Rochdale win local derby against Billy Mckay and Oldham Athletic.
  • Andrew Taylor and Bolton Wanderers secure fifth straight League One win.
  • Ryan Colclough and Jack Hendry's MK Dons now five without a win after defeat to Sheffield United.

SAM MORSY - BARNSLEY

We start with our loanee highest in the EFL pyramid, as Sam Morsy featured for the full 90 minutes of Barnsley's 2-2 home draw against Bristol City in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday.

The midfielder was making his 12th appearance for the Tykes in which he picked up his second yellow card of the season just minutes after Marley Watkins gave his side the lead.

Lee Tomlin equalised from the spot for the visitors after half time, before Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham netted his ninth league goal of the season with 14 minutes to play.

Barnsley had Adam Hammill to thank one minute into injury time when a grabbed a much sought after equaliser to make it two unbeaten for the Oakwell side.

Paul Heckingbottom's men now sit 12th in the division on 20 points, just four from the play-offs, but six above Latics who occupy 22nd.

ANDREW TAYLOR - BOLTON WANDERERS


It was a fifth straight Sky Bet League One victory for Andrew Taylor and Bolton Wanderers on Saturday as they brushed aside Port Vale 3-1 to remain within three points of Scunthorpe United at the summit.

The damage was done inside just 16 minutes as goals from Zach Clough, Josh Vela and Laurie Wilson had the hosts 3-0 up, with the Valiants only able to muster a 75th minute consolation through Samuel Hart.

Taylor played the full 90 minutes of his 13th appearance for Bolton.

SANMI ODELUSI - ROCHDALE / BILLY MCKAY - OLDHAM ATHLETIC


Sanmi Odelusi and Rochdale came out on top in their local derby with Billy Mckay's Oldham Athletic on Saturday afternoon thanks to Matthew Lund's first half strike earning a 1-0 victory at Spotland.

Mckay featured for the entirety of the second half as the Latics battled in search of an equaliser, but the hosts held out for their seventh win in nine games, with Odelusi appearing as an 88th minute substitute.

Both loanees were making their 16th appearances for the respective clubs.

Dale keep going from strength-to-strength in sixth place on 24 points, whilst Oldham continue their struggle in 22nd on just 15.

RYAN COLCLOUGH AND JACK HENDRY - MK DONS


It's now five without a victory for League One strugglers MK Dons after a second consecutive defeat at the weekend saw them lose 2-1 away at Sheffield United.

Ryan Colclough featured for 61 minutes before being substituted, with Jack Hendry making his fourth appearance for the Dons for the duration.

Stefan Scougall and Billy Sharp grabbed the plaudits either side of Darren Potter's 49th minute goal as the Blades held on in the second half.

MK now sit 20th in League One on 16 points, only above the relegation zone on goal difference above Swindon Town.

DANNY WHITEHEAD - CHELTENHAM TOWN


Midfielder Danny Whitehead was an unused substitute as Cheltenham Town drew 2-2 at home to Blackpool on Saturday.

James Dayton and Danny Wright had the hosts 2-1 up at half time, but Blackpool's opening score Kyle Vassell doubled his tally two minutes after the break for his second equaliser of the game.

The draw leaves Cheltenham 16th in League Two on 17 points, just two above Leyton Orient who occupy the 23rd in the relegation zone, but only five behind Crewe Alexandra in the final play-off place.

OWEN EVANS - RHYL FC


Rhyl FC suffered a fourth straight defeat in all competitions on Sunday afternoon as they lost 4-0 away to Cardiff Metropolitan University in the Welsh Premier League.

Owen Evans featured for the full 90 minutes for the Lilywhites as they slipped to eighth place, just two points above Airbus UK Broughton in the relegation zone.
