It's back-to-back draws for Latics' Under 18s in the EFL Youth Alliance following this weekend's 1-1 draw away to Preston North End at UCLan Sports Arena, as Mwiya Malumo opened his goal scoring account for the season just a minute after Jack Burgoyne's opener for the hosts.
Latics remain without a league victory in 2016/17, but commanded a good performance in the first half, before Preston took the lion's share of the game in the second.
Despite a positive first half in which Latics moved the ball well, Nick Chadwick's side fell behind when Shane Donaghey's foul on the edge of the area allowed for a pin-point delivery to late runner Burgoyne who headed home for 1-0.
Seconds later Latics had an instant response, Donaghey flicking the ball over an oncoming Preston defender, before sliding in Malumo to finish from six yards.
In an even contest Latics got in behind on a number of occasions, but couldn't find a way through in the second half, before defender Sam Stubbs was brandished with a second yellow card to see Nick Chadwick's men down to 10 for the final moments of stoppage time.
Latics: Roberts, Plant, Taylor, Hilton, Stubbs, McGuffie, Golden, Donaghey (Forecast 78), Malumo, Randell (Banigime 69), White
