Midfielders given international call.
- Sam Morsy made international debut for Egypt.
- Shaun MacDonald received a late call-up but was an unused sub for Wales.
- Morsy made loan switch to Barnsley the day after Egypt appearance.
Wigan Athletic midfielders Sam Morsy (on loan to Barnsley) and Shaun MacDonald both received international call-ups over the last week, with Morsy making his first ever appearance for the Egyptian national team, whilst MacDonald was an unused substitute for Wales in their opening World Cup qualifying match.
Morsy featured as a second half substitute in Egypt's 1-1 friendly draw against Guinea when he replaced Ahmed Fathy for his much anticipated first appearance for the Pharaohs.
A day late the 24-year-old made a transfer deadline day loan move to fellow Sky Bet Championship side Barnsley.
MacDonald's international involvement was as a result of an injury in the Welsh ranks, but the summer signing didn't feature during last night's 4-0 thrashing of Moldova as Wales went on to top Group D in their World Cup qualifying group.
