Ashton Park JFC Under 7s were the Wish FM Team of the Week for Latics' 0-0 draw against Fulham on Saturday, with the gallery above taking you behind the scenes with the players at the DW Stadium.
Coached by Lee Roberts and playing in the Warrington Junior League, the team have been together in Ashton Park's academy during their pre-school and nursery age before this season, under FA rules, they've entered a match programme.
The academy had around 30 players at the under-7 age group this summer and thus split into three teams - Blues, Reds and Whites - with the Reds at the DW on Saturday.
Speaking to Wigan Athletic's official match day programme, Lee said his team were very excited about the game, with a number of Latics season card holders amongst his players.
"We have quite a few Wigan Atjhletic fans and they're very excited.
"It's all about enjoyment at this age and we have a really enthusiastic bunch. It's about personal development for the youngsters and at this age it's about giving them equal time on the pitch whilst I also believe in letting them try different positions to find out where they like playing best.
"We have a lot of qualified coaches at the club and we've all been on FA training courses, so we'd like to think we're a good club to come to."
