WIGAN ATHLETIC v BARNSLEY
DW STADIUM
SKY BET CHAMPIONSHIP
THURSDAY 13 APRIL 2017
KICK-OFF 7.45PM

Latics Interim Manager Graham Barrow spoke to Latics Player HD in advance of the visit of Barnsley.

GB ON ROTHERHAM WIN
It was a difficult day for us on Saturday but we got character in abundance. It spoke volumes about the players and showed that we’re still in it and that they care about the situation.

GB ON NICK POWELL’S WINNER
It certainly lifted the dressing room, there’s no doubt about that. In the past we’ve become a little carried away after a win, and have failed to back it up, but we have to do that now tomorrow night.

GB ON SPIRIT IN TRAINING
The players have always given it a go, but when you get the rewards for it things feel even better. You’ll never beat the feeling of winning and that’s the feeling we want tomorrow night again, even though we know it’ll be a difficult job.

GB ON BARNSLEY
I watched their game back against Blackburn and they really gave a good account of themselves. There was a little bit of rivalry between ourselves and them last year, so I expect a tough game but an open one.

GB ON TEAM NEWS
Nick (Powell) was a bit sore after the game so we have eased him through this week, but he’ll be available for selection. There’s no news on the others apart from Alex Gilbey, who unfortunately has a slight knee injury which means he’ll miss tomorrow.

GB ON THE FANS
We’ve asked for help from the fans all the time, and they were certainly behind us when we got on the front foot on Saturday. They expected us to win the game so now we’ve got that one under our belts, I think they’ll be behind us from the off and the players have to respond to that.  They know where they stand with the crowd and I hope we all stick together.
