Wigan Athletic and the DW Stadium have received national recognition for the services they provide in hospitality on matchdays and also throughout the year as a commercial team.
The club and stadium have between them received four nominations for the 2017 Stadium Events & Hospitality Awards, ahead of the annual awards ceremony in June at Liverpool FC’s Anfield Stadium.
The four awards Latics and the DW Stadium have been nominated for are as follows:
Overall Matchday Hospitality Award - Sponsored by Salon Culinaire
This award pitches all sized clubs against all, to announce the overall winning UK stadium.
Matchday Hospitality Award - Small Stadium (up to 1000 hospitality seats)
This award category aims to recognise the very best sales and marketing ideas created and introduced within any stadium team. Judges are specifically looking for brave new ideas which have led to increased support for stadium activities.
Shining Star Award– Sponsored by Sodexo Prestige – (Club employee India Harris)
The Shining Star Award category aims to recognise those individuals who are simply outstanding at what they do, and continuously shine. This may be someone at the start of their career, making great strides in their roles, or someone in a more senior role leading the way in excellence.
Stadium Experience Chair Person Collette Salmon, from Liverpool Football Club, commented: “Stadium teams work tirelessly, striving to bring excellence in their venues for both matchday hospitality and non-matchday events.
“These awards aim to recognise and celebrate all of this hard work and commitment.
“Congratulations and best of luck to all of this year’s award nominees – We look forward to announcing the results here at Anfield on 1st June 2017!”
Ian Laithwaite, Wigan Athletic’s Head of Commercial added: “We are delighted to see the work the club and DW Stadium do on matchdays recognised at national level.
“Many hours of preparation go into each event to make sure our customers’ needs are met on an individual basis and it makes us proud to receive as much positive feedback as we do from our supporters.
“To have experts in the field recognise our work is a good sign and both the Stadium and Latics staff should be proud of their achievements.”
