  • Mwiya Malumo and Callum Lang score first-half goals for Latics.
  • Nick Chadwick’s side now ten games unbeaten.
Latics’ under-18s made it ten games unbeaten on Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 victory at Walsall.

Mwiya Malumo and Callum Lang scored the goals for Latics before Walsall hit back in the closing stages.

Malumo gave Latics the lead after 28 minutes as Tylor Golden found space and time to pick the striker out with a lofted delivery, before he headed home from close range.

Lang’s goal just before half-time was one of the best this season as he crashed home a thunderbolt from 35 yards.

In stoppage time, Walsall got one back as they latched onto a loose ball in the box from an initial cross, with Jordan Perrin unfortunate not to hold on to cross.

But it wasn’t enough for the Saddlers and Latics held on in a feisty encounter for a third consecutive win.

Latics: Perrin, Golden, Taylor, Hilton, Stubbs, Downey, Burgess (Plant 90+4), Merrie (McGuffie 65), Powell (Randell 84), Malumo, Lang.
