Wigan Athletic first team player Callum Elder helped to launch the club’s new Game Zone before Sunday afternoon’s fixture against Bury at the DW Stadium.
Callum, who recently joined the club on a season-long-loan deal from Leicester City, met a number of young Latics supporters at the club’s Family Zone in the East Stand, and tested his gaming skills by playing FIFA as well as spending time in the virtual reality zone.
The club recently teamed up with GAME to give young fans the opportunity to try out the latest technology, with more first team players set to make special appearances in the Game Zone throughout the 2017/18 season.
Speaking afterwards, Callum said: “It was the first opportunity I’d had to meet some of the club’s younger fans and they were all full of energy and excited to meet me, which was so nice to see. The welcome I had was overwhelming and it was just a special moment.
He added: “I couldn’t believe how many young fans were playing in the Game Zone and it’s obviously going to be a massive hit this season. It was nice to be able to join in and have a few games too, and I’m just looking forward to meeting more fans throughout the year.”
The Family Zone is completely FREE and opens an hour and a half prior to kick off for both home and away supporters. Activities range from table tennis to pool to speed target gun, while snacks and drinks are available to buy and the Community Trust provide free fruit to all junior supporters.
