Wigan Athletic were delighted to welcome Standish High School student Lydia Melling to Euxton recently to highlight her fund-raising campaign for the Love Manchester Emergency Fund.
Lydia and her mum Sarah were at Manchester Arena on the night of the recent bombing but thankfully both escaped unhurt physically.
In the wake of the events, Lydia decided she wanted to help those affected and, with her art teacher, designed and put in to production what was thought to be a small number of “worker bee” keyrings. However, as news spread of Lydia’s efforts, the demand grew and to date she has raised over £8000!
Lydia and Sarah are pictured above with Will Grigg and Nick Powell, along with some of the keyrings which have been left at the Wigan Athletic Training Centre in Euxton, the latest of many local sites that have taken them to help raise funds and awareness.
You are also able to purchase one of the keyrings from the DW Stadium reception, with all donations going direct to the Love Manchester Fund, backed by The Red Cross.
