Latics’ on-loan midfielder Lee Evans celebrated his first goal for the club with a screamer in injury team which put a cherry on top of a great afternoon for Paul Cook and his men. He gave his views after the match.
EVANS ON THE GOAL
It was a nice one, I just caught it well and thankfully it nestled into the corner. I don’t score too many so hopefully I can score a few more. some more in Wigan colours. I knew it was on target but maybe I had a bit of help from the keeper if I’m being honest when I saw it again.
EVANS ON HIS FITNESS
I thought first half I was a bit off it, a bit slow,I still feel I need to be another five or ten percent in my fitness but that’ll come, I didn’t play a minute in pre-season and the games are coming back, I’m getting my fitness back and second half I felt I got my fitness back.
EVANS ON THE TEAM
I thought as a team we played really well today, especially second half, we moved the ball with more intensity. In the first half we played into their hands a bit, they came to slow the game down, they got their goal, but second half, we attacked them with pace and that front four will cause damage to anyone.
EVANS ON KEEPING UP STANDARDS
We’re not getting carried away, we’ve got a lot to work on, especially after that first half, we should have moved the ball a lot better, but two wins is a great start and we need to move onto the next one.
EVANS ON THE FRONT FOUR
Nick’s good player although I don’t like to tell him, a very naturally gifted footballer, but the whole of the front four, Ivan played brilliantly and Jakesey (Michael Jacobs) is my mate but if he’d scored that goal at the end when he ran the full length of the pitch…I’ve seen him do that time and time again, he’s got a lot of talent, all the boys have but we need to keep working together and keep getting better.
EVANS ON THE START
The gaffer asked us to pick up as many points as we could at the start of the season , we wanted to start in the right way and it’s tough when there are so many new boys but touch wood, if we can keep working, then we’ll be alright.
EVANS ON THE FANS
The place was rocking today, great atmosphere, I’d played here before for Bradford so I knew what to expect and to hear it today again was great and hopefully they can keep coming out in their numbers all year and back us
