Egypt international Sam Morsy was named captain by Paul Cook yesterday, and he led the team to an impressive opening day victory in Buckinghamshire. Read and watch his reaction as he talked to Latics ifollow

“It was a very good performance from the lads today. We were in total control and should have converted more to be honest.

“The game changed when we got a man harshly sent off, but even then we still looked dangerous and had the mentality to win the game.

“It’s an honour for me to captain this club. It’s a massive club and a really ambitious one too, so it’s up to me do the best that I can.

“The new lads all did brilliantly. They haven’t had that long of a time to gel but as long as we keep getting results that’s all that matters.

“The fans were fantastic. We almost felt as if we were the home team with all of the noise they made, and they travelled in great numbers.
