Over 80 young supporters were given the perfect early Christmas present this evening as they met Santa and five of the club’s first team stars at the Team Latics Christmas Party at the DW Stadium.
Christian Walton, Gavin Massey, Ivan Toney, Matija Sarkic and Owen Evans joined in with the festive fun and took part in various games with children in the Marquee in the North Stand.
Organised by the Community Trust, the event saw Game Digital host a number of exciting PlayStation challenges while children also received gifts from Santa.
Speaking at the party, Massey said: “Being so close to Christmas it was great for us to meet the club’s younger fans and put smiles on their faces. It seemed like they all had a brilliant time and we certainly enjoyed it as players.
He added: “The kids can’t wait for the big day to arrive so to be able to add to that excitement is a great feeling for us.”
The event was a memorable occasion for 12 year old Samantha Edwards who won an official Wigan Athletic replica ball signed by the first team squad.
She said: “I enjoyed the party so much and to meet the players was fantastic because I’ve been watching Latics since I was four years old. I was over the moon to win the ball and was praying for my name to be shouted out so when it did I couldn't believe it."
