The League Managers Association’s five-man panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, has determined that the LG Performance of the Week Award should go to Wigan Athletic for their emphatic 7-0 victory against Oxford United on Saturday 23rd December 2017.
The experienced and highly distinguished panel has managed a combined total of over 6,000 competitive matches in professional football.
Latics boss Paul Cook will receive a celebratory bottle of champagne, courtesy of Tanners Wines, and an LG Performance of the Week trophy in a presentation to mark the result.
The victory, on the Saturday before Christmas, broke Latics' previous biggest-ever league victory of 7-1 recorded at Scarborough in March 1997, thanks to a hat-trick from Will Grigg, two from Max Power and one each from Nick Powell and Gavin Massey.
Latics' thumping win forms part of a six game unbeaten run in Sky Bet League One and an eight match streak in all competitions following progression in the Emirates FA Cup against AFC Fylde.
