Wigan Athletic captain Samy Morsy and his Egypt team mates have been drawn against hosts Russia, as well as Uruguay and Saudi Arabia, following the draw for the group stages of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia next summer.
Egypt open their tournament campaign against Uruguay on Friday 15th June, before playing the hosts Russia on Tuesday 19th June, closing the group against Saudi Arabia on Monday 25th June.
Morsy featured in Egypt's final qualification match against Ghana in November of this year, with a 1-1 draw on his first competitive start earning Egypt their place at next year's finals.
The 26-year-old has three caps for his country, including his debut against Guinea in August 2016 and his first start in March 2017 in a 3-0 victory over Togo.
Preparations are going well for the midfielder so far, with two goals in 18 appearances for Latics in all competitions this season. He recently played his 50th game for the club in the 3-0 victory over Doncaster Rovers at the DW Stadium in November.
