WARREN JOYCE LOOKS AHEAD TO QPR TRIP

20 February 2017

Wigan Athletic manager Warren Joyce on his side’s trip to face QPR on Tuesday evening.

  • Watch Warren Joyce preview Wigan Athletic v QPR.
  • Boss confirms Michael Jacobs will miss out, with others facing late decisions.
  • Joyce on QPR: “They have threats, and I expect another tough game.”
Joyce on current fixture programme…

“It’s fast and furious at the moment, but so far we’ve been able to give good performances in those matches.

“We’ll go through a little bit of light training and dust ourselves down before hopping on the train down to London.”

Joyce on not making many changes to his side of late…

“The lads who have been here a while are fitter than those who have come in because they haven’t been playing many games for the teams they were with.

“I thought Ryan Tunnicliffe did well on Saturday after playing his first game in a while, and he’s someone who has worked really hard in training since coming in. It’s all about building the other lads up now too.”

Joyce on QPR…

“They’re a big club and are another side who at the start of the season probably expected to be towards the top end of the table.

“They’ve invested heavily this year and have got threats in their side. I’m expecting another tough game.”

Joyce on tight pitch at Loftus Road…

“We’ve proved we’re adaptable to a lot of situations that have come up, so we’ve got to be ready for it down there too.

“I kind of know what to expect from Ian Holloway’s teams and we’ve got to make sure we’re up for the battle.”

Joyce on momentum…

“We’ve had consistency in the level of our performances but the frustrating thing is that we haven’t picked up points, so it’s vital we turn good performances into points in the coming weeks.”

Joyce on clean sheets…

“We’ve got to approach this game like any other and make sure we’re hard to beat and resilient.

“We got ourselves into good situations to cross the ball on Saturday but we didn’t get enough quality into the box, so that’s the area we’ve got to do better in.”
