Wigan Athletic have signed the highly experienced defender Alex Bruce from Hull City on loan until the end of the season.
The 32 year-old has been at Hull City for the past five years, and has previously played at Oldham Athletic, Birmingham City, Sheffield Wednesday, Tranmere Rovers, Ipswich Town, Leicester City, Leeds United and Huddersfield. He has two caps for both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Latics manager Warren Joyce is delighted to bring him on board: “Alex knows this division inside out, he is street-wise and understands exactly what we need over the next three months,” he said, “he adds tremendous competition to the squad.”
Bruce is also the son of former Latics and current Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce.
