- On loan Stoke City stopper: “We have to look forwards now”
Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Jakob Haugaard told Latics PlayerHD that the Wigan Athletic fans were “amazing” on Sunday afternoon at Old Trafford, as 3,000 supporters generated a fantastic volume of support behind the players against Jose Mourinho’s side.
Reflecting post-match, Haugaard said:
“Our fans created the atmosphere and it was unbelievable; huge credit to everyone that was here backing us today, it was amazing.”
On the match itself, he continued:
“It was a tough test; I think we played well for the first 44 minutes before we conceded an unlucky goal.
“We could have scored before they did, but it was just bad-timing with them scoring just before half-time.”
And he also added it was important to not let the 4-0 defeat to United dampen spirits as Latics engage in a busy run of Sky Bet Championship fixtures in the next month.
“You have to look forwards, close this game down in our minds, look at the things we can improve on and move on from here,” Haugaard finished.
