Jamie Hanson has signed for Wigan Athletic from Derby County for the rest of the season.
The 21 year-old England Under 20 player is highly regarded at Pride Park Stadium and has made 27 appearances in all competitions for The Rams.
Latics manager Warren Joyce sees him as a great new addition to the squad.
He said: “Jamie is an exciting prospect and Derby feel that his immediate development will be better served by coming on loan to us.
“He is versatile and can play in a number of positions in midfielder or in defence and we are delighted to have brought him to the club.”
Burton-born Hanson has come through the Derby Academy and made a big impact on his debut, scoring straight from a corner in a 1-1 draw at Norwich City in April 2015. He has played 25 times in the Sky Bet Championship in total for The Rams, 14 of those as a starter.
