Wigan Athletic have signed the former Sunderland striker Mikael Mandron from Eastleigh for an undisclosed fee.
The 22 year old passed a medical at the DW Stadium and signs a two and a half year deal that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2019.
Latics manager Warren Joyce sees him as a good addition to the squad: “Mikael is a dynamic young striker who has worked with Andy Welsh at Sunderland and we are really optimistic he can develop with us over the next two and a half years.
“He has pace and strength and we look forward to working with him.”
Mandron spent three years with Sunderland’s Development Squad and made three appearances in the Barclays Premier League, before loan spells followed to Fleetwood Town, Shrewsbury Town and Hartlepool United.
He joined Eastleigh of the National League last summer and has scored 15 times for The Spitfires, including twice in the FA Cup run that saw them beat Swindon Town and Halifax before losing at Brentford.
