- "The gaffer's come in and he's lifted the club" - Chey Dunkley.
Signed from Oxford United in June, Dunkley has been recovering from injury over the past couple of weeks and missed last Friday’s game against Liverpool, however put in a commanding performance tonight as he got 45 minutes under his belt.
Speaking after the game, he said: “I was buzzing to be out there to be honest. I’m a few weeks behind some of the other boys to be honest so I’m really happy to get 45 minutes.
“The game allowed us to focus on our shape and a new way of playing really, and we’re getting better at it every day by working on it in training.
“I’ve settled in really well and all the lads have been welcoming. The coaching staff have been brilliant with me while I’ve been recovering, so I’ve got to know them well too.
“There’s only so much training you can do because nothing beats playing. Training is really intense anyway so overall I’m happy with everything.
“The gaffer’s come in and he’s lifted the club. Everyone’s all on board with what he wants to do and we’re just preparing game by game now until the start of the season.
