Latics’ new home shirt, manufactured by official Wigan Athletic kit partner Kappa, can be seen here exclusively for the first time, with more images due to be revealed later this week.
The brand-new design will feature two thick blue and white stripes with a thin blue pin stripe down the centre, alongside a plain white back.
The project has been in the planning since July 2016, with initial designs created by Kappa at the company’s headquarters in Nantes and Turin.
Discussions with the club followed until the final samples were approved and the kit could go into the manufacturing stage.
The Wigan Athletic kit is manufactured in Thailand, with Kappa guaranteeing their production meets all international quality, safety and welfare standards. The shirts will once again feature Kappa’s ultra-gripping ‘kombat skin’ style shirts, a seamless technology which effectively acts as a second skin which has been worn by the players over the past two seasons.
The retail version will differ from the professional version with a looser fitting, although supporters will still have the option to purchase other versions.
Major European sportwear brand Kappa have been a leading global provider of sporting and fashion apparel since 1967, creating iconic strips over generations for many leading clubs in many sports.
Football is still their primary business and Kappa currently produce kits for teams including Leeds United and Bury in the UK, Napoli and Roma in Italy, Bastia and Angers in France, Royal Antwerp and Standard Liege in Belgium, along with teams in Brazil, Argentina, and South Africa.
