Wigan Athletic defender Chey Dunkley has been working hard at back at the club’s Training Centre in Euxton whilst his new teammates have been starting their own preparations for the new season out in Spain.
Dunkley, who signed for Latics after playing over 50 games last season for Oxford United, had a minor operation last week to sort out a slight hernia issue, and has since been working hard in the gym to get ready for Latics’ pre-season fixtures.
In a brief chat with wiganathletic.com on Friday, Dunkley said:
“It’s not a big problem, just something we wanted to get sorted as early as possible so I can get ready for the pre-season matches and the new season.
“Obviously I’d have liked to have been out in Spain with the boys but for me I just want to get to 100% as soon as possible so it was the sensible thing to do to get things sorted.
“I have been back in the gym a couple of days now and feel fine so I am looking forward to getting out on the grass with the boys.”
