Wigan Athletic are deeply saddened to learn of the death of four-year-old Amelia Morris.
The club was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of four-year-old Amelia Morris on Tuesday.
Amelia had suffered with the rare genetic disorder Tay-Sachs disease since her birth in 2012 and sadly lost her battle with illness yesterday.
The club learned of Amelia’s battle in 2015 and donated the proceeds of our Johnstone’s Paint Trophy match with Blackpool in November 2015 to Amelia’s fundraising campaign ‘Amelia’s Lights’.
Chairman David Sharpe said:
“I was truly saddened when I heard the news, Amelia was an incredibly brave little girl.
“My thoughts go out to Amelia’s parents Whitney and Jonathan, her sister Emily and the rest of the family at this very sad time.”
