The club can confirm that goalkeeper Matt Gilks has left the club to join Scunthorpe United.
Latics manager Paul Cook said: “It is important that we have players at the club who are 100% focused on wanting to be here and succeed with us. We wish him all the best in the future and move on.”
The 35 year-old former Rochdale, Blackpool, Norwich City, Shrewsbury Town, Burnley and Rangers goalkeeper played 14 times for Latics in the Sky Bet Championship following his move from Rangers in January. His debut came at Fulham in February, his final game was in the final day draw at home to Leeds United.
