Latics’ Community Trust will be recognising and supporting Wellfest in June and July.
Wigan Athletic Football Club will be supporting Wellfest, Wigan Borough’s festival celebrating the many different ways people can get healthier and happier, over the next couple of weeks.
After the success of last year’s inaugural Wellfest, the event returns this year and this time it will double in size with two weeks dedicated to encouraging the borough to do something to help their health and wellbeing.
The Community Trust will be supporting Wellfest at a number of their sessions, such as Football 4 Forces, Premier League Kicks and at Every Player Counts disability football sessions.
The first week will launch with the exciting Street Velodrome’s return to Leigh in a new town centre location from Thursday 22nd June to Sunday 25th June, with opportunities throughout the four days for amateur cyclists to hit the track.
Other events coming back this year include the big NHS Health Checks, The Mass Mile and Dementia Friends among others. The first week will end on Sunday 2nd July with the first Joining Jack Bike Ride.
Wellfest will still be linking up with a range of events throughout the summer, such as the Leigh 10k and the Joining Jack Wigan 10k along with National Play Day and much more.
The Mayor of Wigan Borough, Councillor Ron Conway, said: “Wellfest is a fantastic opportunity for everyone to try something new that will help with your health and wellbeing. This year there is even more for you to try your hand at so make sure you get involved as it is the perfect opportunity to take those first steps towards a healthier and happier you.”
