WARREN JOYCE SPOKE TO LATICS PLAYER HD AFTER WATCHING HIS SIDE LOSE AT HOME AT THE DW STADIUM
ON THE PERFORMANCE
I didn’t think we played well enough today, we were hoping for a better performance than that but we certainly didn’t deserve to lose, we had opportunities to score despite not playing well, but I thought we gave too many cheap free-kicks away today, we were second in a lot of the duels and we didn’t pass it as well as you would want.
ON THE GOAL
To go down to a goal like that, which wasn’t a corner in the first place, and the player is in an offside position anyway, is a really frustrating way to lose.
ON PICKING OURSELVES UP
There’s still a long way to go, we’ve got to make sure that no one’s giving up in that dressing room, we’ve got to still come out fighting for the next game. It’s been a frustrating time since I came to the club, one step backwards, one step forwards, we’ve got to make sure that everybody is at their maximum in every single game we play between now and the end of the season.
ON THE CREATIVE PLAYERS
The more creative players that we’ve got are not 100% fit at the moment, that’s just a fact, we’ve got others out with injuries and suspension and the lads who have come in are doing their best but they’ve not played regularly all season so they’re not going to manage 90 minutes back to back. They’ve had a go as long as they could.
ON STEPHEN WARNOCK
He got a laceration on his knee so we’ll have to assess that in the week and see where we are.
ON A MESSAGE FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON
There’s no way that the players we have are quitters, they’ve had a lot of kicks in the teeth, but you have to pick yourself up in life or in football and battle through to the end. You never give up.
