Unbeaten run now at six matches for Nick Chadwick's under-18 side.
- Match Report: Latics U18 2 - 0 Blackpool U18.
- Tom Powell and Luke Burgess on the mark for Latics.
- Nick Chadwick's side now six unbeaten.
Early goals from Tom Powell and Luke Burgess helped Nick Chadwick’s side to see off Blackpool in the EFL Youth Alliance for the second time in less than a month.
Latics completely dominated the encounter, having 21 attempts on goal to Blackpool’s four, and the only disappointment was perhaps that the margin of victory was not greater.
Powell had opportunities to add to his opener whilst schoolboy Joe Gelhardt also spurned a chance after coming off the bench, but again continued his impressive development.
Latics were ahead inside two minutes when Jamie Cotter won the ball back under pressure from a throw in and found Powell, who broke into the box and scored with a nice finish from the left-had side of the area.
The second came following a corner as Burgess his a superb effort from around 25 yards, with the ball rocketing home off the inside of the post.
Blackpool hit the post in the closing stages as they looked to set up a tense finish but Latics held firm and continued their good run of form that now sees them six unbeaten, as they prepare for their EFL Youth Alliance Northern Cup final against Rochdale next weekend. Today they travel to Burnley in the league.
