Latics come from two goals down to earn a point and extend unbeaten run to seven games.
- Report: Burnley U18 3 – 3 Latics U18.
- Callum Lang scores twice for Nick Chadwick’s side.
- Unbeaten run now at seven games for Latics’ under-18s.
Wigan Athletic’s under-18 side extended their unbeaten run to seven matches after scoring a late equaliser against Burnley on Saturday afternoon.
Callum Lang drew Latics level twice after Joe Gelhardt had earlier got one back for Latics after Burnley had raced into a two-goal lead.
Latics were behind after seven minutes as Tinashe Chakwana headed the Clarets ahead from a corner before the Wigan-born striker made it 2-0 three minutes later with a finish beyond young Latics goalkeeper Kain McGaughey.
Chadwick’s side replied early in the second-half as Matty Taylor cut inside and passed to Gelhardt who held off defender with his back to goal before turning and finished left footed in the box
On the hour mark Latics drew level as Shane Donaghey played a ball in behind for Lang to cut inside onto his right foot and finish from edge of the box
However, straight from the subsequent kick off, Tom Hilton tried to clear a ball over the top from Burnley, but he could only divert into his own goal.
It was a last minute leveller for Latics, though, as a cross from deep into the box from Tylor Golden was chested down and hit first time by Lang for the equaliser.
It was good grit and determination shown from Latics to come back into the game after being down by two goals, with an inexperienced team.
And Chadwick’s side created more chances and got into better positions than their hosts and, on another day, may have grabbed all three points.
Latics: McGaughey, Trialist (Trialist 60), Taylor, Plant (Golden 19), Hilton, Donaghey, Lang, Downey, Powell, Gelhardt, Cotter (Jolley 82).
Subs: McGuffie, Culshaw.
