CHIEF EXECUTIVE PRESENTS CLUB'S CHARITIES WITH FA COMMUNITY SHIELD FUND

16 May 2017

Wigan Athletic Community Trust, Wigan Youth Zone and Latics 2 Amsterdam were the club's charities for the 2016/17 season

Wigan Athletic Chief Executive Jonathan Jackson presented the club’s official charities with their share of £2,000 from the FA Community Shield Fund at the DW Stadium on Tuesday morning.

Wigan Athletic Community Trust, Wigan Youth Zone and Latics 2 Amsterdam were the club’s chosen charities for the 2016/17 season, and representatives from all three organisations were present to receive their funds which will be used for community initiatives of their choice.

The FA Community Shield raises hundreds of thousands of pounds every year, distributed to community-based initiatives and charities up and down the country, with funds raised through a combination of ticket sales and match programmes.

Jonathan said: “We’re proud to have worked with all three charities throughout the season and the funds received by the FA Community Shield will help to further improve the excellent work already carried out across the borough.”
