Wigan Athletic's under-18 side host AFC Bournemouth in the final of the EFL Youth Alliance Cup on Tuesday night at the DW Stadium, with admission free for season card holders (kick-off 7pm).
Non-season card holder prices are at £5 for adults and £1 for under-18s and the game will go straight to penalties should the tie be level after 90 minutes.
Nick Chadwick's side progressed through a group including Tranmere Rovers, Fleetwood Town and Oldham Athletic before beating Burton Albion, Blackpool and Rochdale in the knockout rounds to win the Northern Section of the competition.
Having lost just once in their last 14 matches the under-18s are full of confidence and the clash with the Cherries would be the perfect end to the year for the academy, according to Head of Academy Gregor Rioch:
“There is a great camaraderie amongst this group and it would be a fitting end to see them lift a trophy at the end of what is – for most of them – the end of their two-year journey as an under-18 player.
“This is a prestigious trophy for all category three teams and we are very proud to have got this far in the competition in a season in which we have been hit hard with injuries.
“Nick Chadwick [under-18 coach] has got the boys in good form and they are all looking forward to getting back out at the DW and hopefully repeating their exploits of recent years in the FA Youth Cup.”
Car Park 3 will be open for supporters for the match whilst refreshments will be available in the Coors Lounge.
