FOOD BANK IN AID OF THE BRICK TO BE LOCATED IN THE FAMILY ZONE AT EVERY HOME WEEKEND GAME THIS SEASON

16 November 2017

Supporters raised over £800 for The Brick through match day collections at September's fixture against Bristol Rovers.

  • The Brick are a charity based in Wigan town centre.
  • They support almost 400 people across the borough each month.
  • Family Zone opens an hour and a half before kick-off at every home weekend game.

Latics supporters wanting to donate food and toiletries to The Brick, Wigan Athletic’s official charity partner for the 2017/18 season, will now be able to do so at each home weekend game.

A food bank will be located in the Family Zone in the East Stand for the remainder of the current campaign, and fans are encouraged to bring items such as tinned meat and fish, cereal, tinned beans, soup, vegetables, packet meals and toiletries.

A homeless charity based in Wigan town centre, The Brick helps people living on the streets to rebuild their lives. Every month, it supports almost 400 people across the borough who are affected by poverty or homelessness, offering them food, shelter and training.

September's fixture against Bristol Rovers at the DW Stadium marked the launch of the year-long partnership with The Brick, and supporters helped the charity to raise over £800 by donating generously to match day collections.

Operating alongside permanent official charities Wigan Athletic Community Trust and Wigan Youth Zone, the club will help to support The Brick’s Rebuilding Lives campaign which aims to raise £75,000 in 12 months to help people in the community to construct new lives.

The Family Zone opens an hour and a half before kick-off and entry is free to all home and away supporters. Activities include a brand new Game Zone, as well as table tennis, pool and speed target gun. Drinks and snacks are available to buy and younger supporters are provided with free fruit.
