Wigan Athletic's under-18s progressed to the next round of the EFL Youth Alliance Cup on Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 win over Bradford City.
Mitchell Culshaw and Divin Baningime got the goals for Nick Chadwick's side, who won for the third consecutive game.
The opening goal came after 20 minutes as Baningime intercepted loose pass before passing to Mwiya Malumo in the box to set up Culshaw who finished right footed from a tight angle.
The second goal came early in the second-half when a good switch of play by Adam Long picked out Culshaw who crossed from the right find Baningime for a great glancing header in the box.
Malumo also missed a penalty for Latics, who conceded a penalty themselves when Anthony Plant was adjudged to have committed a foul in the penalty area.
In difficult conditions, though, Latics held firm to progress to the next round.
