We are delighted to welcome Prostate Cancer UK to the DW Stadium on Saturday afternoon when we host Southend United in Sky Bet League One.

Volunteers will be collecting money outside the ground and with your generosity will be raising vital funds to help relegate the most common cancer in men.

Wigan Athletic manager Paul Cook will be showing his support on the day - he’s joined forces with more than 30 managers to give the most vital team talks of their careers after chilling statistics showed prostate cancer kills one man every 45 minutes.

The gaffers include Burnley’s Sean Dyche and Newcastle United’s Rafa Benitez as well as Championship duo Simon Grayson and Dean Smith, who both have personal connections with the disease. All will also be wearing Prostate Cancer UK’s iconic ‘man of Men’ pin badge on the touchline during the 2017/18 campaign as the leading men’s charity cranks up the serious message.

Cook said: “Wigan Athletic are proud to support the work of Prostate Cancer UK and its fans have already raised a substantial amount of funds and awareness through cycling and walking, and I want to carry on that tradition.

“Everyone can play their part by sporting a Man of Men pin badge, like me. That badge represents you, me and everyone in the fight against prostate cancer, a disease that strikes down so many.

“When I saw the statistic that one man dies every 45 minutes from prostate cancer it shocked me. It’s unacceptable. We need to play our part as coaches, as players and as fans, to unify and stop prostate cancer being a killer.”

Prostate Cancer UK is the Official Charity Partner of the EFL. Their “Man of Men” logo sits proudly in the squad numbers of every one of our player’s shirts. It also adorns the lapels of football managers and pundits across the land.
