Academy graduate Sam Stubbs made his Crewe Alexandra and EFL debut on Saturday afternoon as a second-half substitute in the Alex’s 3-0 defeat at Exeter City.
Stubbs replaced Brad Walker after 65 minutes with David Artell’s side already trailing 2-0.
The Grecians moved to the top of League Two with the win whilst the Alex dropped to 15th.
Midfielder Josh Laurent played another 90 minutes for Bury as the Shakers ended their run of three consecutive defeats with a 0-0 draw at home to Plymouth Argyle.
Laurent scored his first goal for Lee Clark’s side in midweek in their defeat to Fleetwood Town and has now made four appearances for Bury.
Also in League One, Jack Byrne featured for another 90 minutes for Oldham Athletic, picking up the Man of the Match award as John Sheridan’s side ran into in-form Shrewsbury Town, losing 2-1.
Former Latic Craig Davies got Oldham level with his fifth goal in seven matches after Stefan Payne – scorer of Salop’s goal against Latics – put the visitors ahead before Paul Hurst’s League One leaders won it with Jon Nolan’s second-half goal.
Donervon Daniels was an unused substitute as Rochdale lost 3-2 at MK Dons.
Jordan Flores & Andy Kellett
Both Jordan Flores and Andy Kellett featured as Gary Caldwell lost his job at Chesterfield manager following the Spireites’ 2-1 home defeat to Accrington Stanley.
The Derbyshire side went behind to Billy Kee’s goal after going down to ten men following Bradley Barry’s sending off. However, Kristian Dennis looked to have salvaged a point from the penalty spot before Malik Wilks won it for John Coleman’s side.
Callum Lang was an unused substitute for Morecambe as the Shrimps beat Newport County 2-1 at the Globe Arena.
Luke Burke featured again for AFC Fylde in the National League as they came from behind to draw 2-2 at Eastleigh.
Eastleigh went 2-0 ahead thanks to goals from Reda Johnson and Gary McSheffrey but Henry Jones and Jordan Tunnicliffe levelled for Dave Challinor’s side who now sit 20th in the National League – four points above the relegation zone.
