Latics announced the additions of players joining the club’s under-18 team in the 2018-19 campaign last week, with the young boys signing their scholarships at an induction evening with first team manager Paul Cook and chief executive Jonathan Jackson. Bobby Jones - Goalkeeper
KD: Bobby joins us this summer from Middlesbrough. Bobby is an imposing figure noted for his ability to command his box and has excellent distribution. Bobby committed his future to Wigan Athletic and joins a talented squad of players.
Oliver Broe - Full Back
KD: Oliver joined the club in July 2015 after spending a number of years at Liverpool. He is an energetic attack-minded full back, whose strengths include his 1v1 defending and crossing ability.
Luke Robinson – Left Back
KD: Luke is a left back who joined the club from Wrexham as an under 15. Luke is a tough tackling yet attack-minded full back who shows great desire to have an impact in the attacking third.
Harry Jolley - Defender
KD: Harry joined Wigan Athletic as an under 14 and follows his brother Charlie in gaining a scholarship at the club. Harry is able to play across the back four and shows great leadership and organisational skills for someone so young.
Louis Isherwood – Centre Back
KD: Louis is a central defender who re-joined the club as an under 14 after a spell at Liverpool's academy. Louis is comfortable in playing out from the back and is a strong 1v1 defender.
Joseph McWilliam - Midfielder
KD: Joe joined the club in March 2013. A tough tackling and energetic holding midfield player, Joe excels in breaking down opposition attacks and retaining possession.
Jensen Weir – Midfielder
KD: Jensen joined Wigan Athletic in October 2012. On 7th November 2017, Jensen became the youngest player to appear for the first team coming on as a second half substitute against Accrington Stanley. The son of former Everton and Scotland defender David Weir, Jensen has represented and captained Scotland at U15 and U16 level and has featured for the club’s under 18 side already this season.
Thelo Asgaard - Midfielder
KD: Thelo joined the club in September 2015. Thelo is a creative and intelligent attacking midfield player who can create and score goals. Thelo has recently received a call up to represent Norways U16 national team later on this month in Valencia.
McKenzie O’Neill - Forward
KD: McKenzie is a bright and intelligent player who is able to play in a number of attacking positions. Kenzie is a dribbler and has an eye for goal, contributing with a number of goals so far this season.
Kyle Joseph - Striker
KD: Kyle joined Wigan Athletic as an U14 and has been a consistent goal-scorer ever since. A strong, robust and enthusiastic centre forward, Kyle has scored over 50 goals so far this season for the club’s U16 age group and has featured recently in the U18 squad.
Joseph Gelhardt - Forward
KD: Joe has been at the club since the age of 10 and has gone from strength to strength. Joe has represented England at under 15 and under 16 level and has featured for the clubs U18 side this season.
