- Sessions take place at Robin Park Arena and Wigan Youth Zone.
- Participants complete qualifications and attend lifestyle workshops.
Football 4 Forces is Wigan Athletic Community Trust’s weekly footballing programme for current and former Armed Forces service people.
With free sessions taking place at Robin Park Arena (5.30pm-7pm) and Wigan Youth Zone (11am-12pm) every Monday and Thursday respectively, the scheme aims to improve the health and wellbeing of the borough’s forces community while also helping them to feel less socially isolated.
Participants have the opportunity to complete various coaching and refereeing qualifications as part of the programme, while also becoming volunteers for the Community Trust, attending Latics fixtures and playing football matches against other clubs and organisations.
In addition, lifestyle workshops are held to raise awareness of subjects such as diet, nutrition, healthy eating and the dangers of drugs and alcohol.
