Latics' Development Squad made sure they continued their pre-season campaign unbeaten in four outings, with Divin Baningime on target late on into second half stoppage time.
The forward's equaliser came in the first minute of stoppage time, after the visitors from Scotland turned the game around following Joe Piggott's early opener. Rangers FC had Cameron Palmer and Daniel Finlayson to thank for their lead, the latter who pushed them in front with an acrobatic attempt.
An even, but competitive opening soon swayed in Latics' favour when Callum Lang provided his first of two assists at Christopher Park to find Piggott at the left post for the game's opening goal. Piggott, who signed a professional contract with the Development Squad last week, used his frame to bundle the cross home at the left post for 1-0.

Latics had Wales youth international Owen Evans to thank for holding onto their lead two minutes late when he got down low to his left to deny Zak Rudden, before pulling off a second top with his feet to keep his side ahead.
Piggott almost had a second moments before Rangers' equaliser when he picked up a loose ball on the edge of the area after good work by captain Chris Merrie, only for visiting goalkeeper Aidan McAdams to beat the ball away.
Rangers had their leveller a minute later, but it came with a hint of fortune as a stray pass fell to the feet of Palmer. Credit must go to the midfielder, though, as he stepped through Latics' defence to finish low to the right.
Lang should have had Latics ahead before the break when he beat the offside trap, but the forward couldn't finish one-v-one with McAdams.
The visitors came out of the blocks the quickest in the second half, forcing Evans into a low save to deny Stephen Kelly, but he could do nothing to stop Finlayson in the 50th minute as Rangers took the lead from his improvised overhead kick at the right post.
Latics' substitute Emeka Obi almost levelled six minutes after his introduction when he towered above the Rangers defence at the left post, only to see his effort turned off the line.
A minute later and Latics were left bemused. Lang was clearly pulled down in the area, but a free kick was the only answer from the referee. Substitute Victor Maffeo struck the wall from the set piece.
Latics looked the only team likely to score as the game progressed and with one added minute on the clock, Baningime grabbed a much deserved equaliser, turning the ball home at close range from Lang's cross on the right.
That's four games unbeaten for Latics in pre-season, with wins against Llandudno FC and Rhyl FC, and a 0-0 draw against Whitchurch Alport.
Latics will face further friendlies against Colwyn Bay, Huddersfield Town and Bala Town ahead of their 2018/19 Central League campaign.
