Speaking to iFollow Latics after his side's 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa at Villa Park on Saturday, Latics boss Paul Cook said he expects to make changes for Tuesday night's Carabao Cup Round One visit to Rotherham United.
"The league is our total and utter priority, this year, the FA Cup as well. So there will be a lot of changes on Tuesday night for our supporters who are travelling. I wouldn’t want people to travel across and be disappointed with the team selection.
"We respect every competition we’re in but these games are really tough on the legs and we’re in a very competitive league and we’re going to make sure the team selection are based around that."
With changes expected, Latics could hand competitive debuts to Leo Da Silva Lopes and Kal Naismith who are yet to feature this season, with the likes of Jamie Jones, Alex Bruce, Gary Roberts and Jamie Walker who have all been unused substitutes in the opening two Sky Bet Championship fixtures likely to be in contention.
