FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY AT SATURDAY’S OPENING GAME OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON

2 August 2018

The Family Zone will be open outside the South Stand from 1.30pm-3pm at Saturday's clash against Sheffield Wednesday.

  • Family Zone to be open outside the South Stand at this weekend’s game.
  • Club received the EFL Family Excellence Award during 2017/18 season.
  • Entry is completely free to both Latics and the Owls' supporters.

The return of the new football season also means the return of the club’s popular Family Zone on home matchdays at the DW Stadium – and this year it’ll be bigger and better than ever before!

Open from 1.30pm-3pm outside the South Stand at this Saturday's game, activities led by Wigan Athletic Community Trust will include football inflatables, table football, pool, table tennis, face painting, PlayStation games, a giant inflatable dart board courtesy of Wigan Youth Zone and more!

Entry to the Family Zone will be completely free to both sets of supporters, with an ice-cream van and an outside bar available, while snacks and drinks can be purchased.

The club’s Family Zone was a roaring success throughout the 2017/18 campaign, with thousands of fans enjoying a fantastic pre-match offering at the DW Stadium which accumulated in the club receiving the EFL Family Excellence Award for their “extraordinary quality of family experience.”

As part of this, EFL clubs receive two 'mystery family visits' a season, with their feedback and reports determining who achieves ‘Family Excellence’ status. A family that visited the DW Stadium described the facility as a “brilliant buzz of activity and a really good provision before the game."

Closing at kick-off, children must be accompanied by an adult to enter and take part in activities, and by using the facility you consent to having photographs taken and used by the club.
