EARLY TEAM NEWS

Speaking to iFollow Latics at the Wigan Athletic Training Centre on Friday morning, Paul Cook confirmed the unfortunate news that Gavin Massey is set for a period on the sidelines after injuring his hamstring at QPR last weekend.

Massey has been a key player for Latics so far this season, producing a stand-out performance in his side's 3-0 win at Stoke City nearly a fortnight ago.

Dan Burn continues to remain on the sidelines and, similarly to Michael Jacobs, the hope is he will be back in action following the international break.

Darron Gibson is continuing his recovery from a groin injury and is edging closer to a return.

Rotherham United made eight changes from Sunday's win over Millwall for their midweek Carabao Cup clash with Everton and further changes are likely for their visit to the DW Stadium.

Only Zak Vyner, Semi Ajayi and Sean Raggett started in both games with Joe Mattock, Marek Rodak, Michael Smith, Will Vaulks and Richard Wood all looking to protect ever-present records for the Millers in the Championship this season with a return to the starting XI.
