A clinical Latics side fired six past Wrexham to get their third consecutive win in three games on Saturday lunch time with Charlie Jolley grabbing a hat-trick.

The forward completed his hard-earned hat-trick inside 51 minutes, with Latics also getting goals from Mitchell Culshaw, Joe Gelhardt and substitute Kyle Joseph.

Despite being level early in the game, victory means Latics have scored ten goals in their first three games of the campaign and continue their march as early table toppers.

Jolley’s early breakthrough was cancelled out by the visitors when they were awarded a penalty, though Latics continued to impress by scoring two goals in quick succession towards the end of the half.

England youth international Gelhardt’s penalty ensured Latics were on their way to victory, followed by Joseph’s towering header from a corner with the forward scoring his second goal of the season.

Latics will hope to keep the momentum going with their next Youth Alliance fixture against Bury, but travel to Chesterfield next in the first game of the Youth Alliance Cup.

Culshaw, who impressed in the victory said the team are determined to build on their unbeaten start to the season:

“The lads are working hard and its paying off for us, we’re getting the wins and we hope to keep fit so we can build on this.

“Everyone’s working hard and its really good for the squad in terms of competition. You’ve seen that today with Kyle who came on and got on the scoresheet, it’s good to have.”

The midfielder says he wants to add more goals to his game and praised his partnership with Ollie Broe down the right-hand side after today’s victory:

“I have a target that I want to achieve and hopefully I can score goals and create them too, today’s just the start for me and I’m looking to get more.

“Ollie’s a great lad and player with great stamina so I enjoy playing with him.
